Day 739: obsessed

my personality is wired in such a way that when i get into something, i go 100% into it

when i decided to jump into making videos, i left my job at google and spent all day every day writing, filming, and editing videos for my facebook page

when i decided to go deep into meditation, i stopped making videos and traveled to various monasteries and retreat centers to meditate all day

when i decided to start my own business, i built projects nonstop and coded until i had wrangled a working saas into existence

i feel the same energy with fitness right now. for the past week, i’ve been spending all my time learning about nutrition, body recomposition, mobility, fitness routines, climbing, how to train to develop the skills i’m interested in, etc.

the difference this time is that i don’t want to go 100% into it and drop everything else because i have other goals i care about. i’m not trying to become a full-time athlete or fitness coach.

thankfully, there’s a natural limit to how much time i can spend on fitness: however much my body can handle. this week has been especially humbling in that respect because due to all the new movements and exercises, my body feels incredibly sore all over and it left me doubting whether i could handle the volume of training climbing, front lever, planche, handstands AND mobility all at the same time. but from past experience, i know that this is just how starting a new routine goes: your body experiences a lot of discomfort as it adjusts to novelty of the routine and then acclimates very quickly.

so right now, i’m letting my inner geek obsess over soaking up as much knowledge about fitness, but i’m also looking forward to when the routine actually feels routine and i’m able to ramp up my other goals for the year (browserflow, writing, dancing). especially excited for browserflow because it’s been growing at a nice pace despite my little break and i’m as excited as ever about its potential and ways to improve it going forward

ty brain for being so interested in things because it makes life really fun

(quick side note: this is also why i stay the heck away from video games because i know that i am especially susceptible to getting sucked into a dark vortex where i just grind for hours. the importance of learning to channel obsessive energy in ways that are beneficial to well-being rather than detrimental can’t be overstated)
