Day 543: korea...?
i found out that if (a) you’re vaccinated and (b) you’re visiting family (parents, grandparents, or children), you can go to korea and be exempt from the 14-day quarantine
!!!
this is a game changer because i’ve been talking about going to korea since the end of last year and i can actually make it happen without paying $2000+ to stay in some random government facility for two weeks while guzzling huel all day long
tbh though, that doesn’t sound too bad and i was mad productive during my taiwan quarantine so maybe it’d be helpful?
why korea appeals to me:
-
my grandpa on my dead mom’s side is there and he’s getting pretty frail so i wanna see him
- the last time i saw him was in 2017 and he said very matter-of-factly that it’d probably be our final time seeing each other. i told him nope and i intend to keep my word
-
i wanna get better at korean so i can talk to my parents without feeling like a dum boi and feeling frustrated because i can’t say what i want to say
-
lucas is there
-
i wanna try living amongst ~ my ppl ~
the only challenge with going to korea is that in order to get the exemption, i need to present a “family relation certificate” that’s been issued in the last 3 months to prove that i’m related to my family member residing in korea. i have no idea what that is or how that works
so tentative plan, assuming the above doesn’t wreck me:
-
stay in sf for a week or so
- i’ll finally get to overlap with alice yay
-
go to vegas and hang out with red door crew for a week
-
go back to socal, pack, and hang out with parents, grandpa, kevin, and kate for a few days
-
KOREA until october
-
come back and get a dope place with shiva / find a gr8 community
- or maybe the rest of asia will have opened by then and i’ll get everyone to go to japan with me
- oh wait i have tickets for edc in october
-
wow and then it’ll be 2022
- huh
- time is flying by
- and then i’ll be 29
- and then 30
- and then ded
- ~ return to the void ~
