Day 477: brain dump

  • our airbnb ends in 4 days!! gonna miss this crew

  • we’ve been playing a lot of poker and my frugal side dies every time i get rekt

    • raj came up with this variant where everyone gets 5 chips for $5 (you can’t get more until everyone cashes out) and it makes the game go super quickly
    • it’s like the crack version of poker
  • i’m gonna stay in vegas for a bit longer because ben and mai are going to japan for a month and offered to let me crash at their place in the meantime. they are the best

  • you’d think that the longer i work on browserflow without getting external validation that my confidence in the project would drop, but it’s been the complete opposite

    • i’m ridiculously confident that this is going to be a successful business and i have to wonder whether all my sleep deprivation has led to some serious brain damage
    • like it almost seems inevitable that this will work out
    • i don’t know where this fountain of endless optimism comes from but i’ve felt this way since day 1 — my expectation was that i’d try to get things to work over several years and something will eventually stick
    • i think my confidence comes from being anchored on a long time horizon
    • i don’t feel pressured to get something working right away, so i feel like i can take the time to properly experiment and figure out what i like and the life i want to lead
    • the ability to take my time and do things on my own terms is such a luxury — i don’t think i’d enjoy this nearly as much if i held grandiose expectations / raised money and had VCs breathing down my neck / felt pressured to “make something happen”
    • just showing up every day and chipping away at this block of marble to reveal something beautiful underneath
    • i am incredibly lucky
