Day 40 (Feedback Friday): Subscription Score

Today’s product for Feedback Friday is Subscription Score made by Danielle and James. I went on longer than the intended 10 minutes (how in the world did I stick to 12 minutes for my initial Feedback Friday?), so I either need to talk less or be okay with going longer for future videos.

Points of feedback that I didn’t get to mention in the video:

  • I would create a way for people to try the product before purchasing it. James mentioned that not many people purchased the product, and I think it might be because it’s hard to tell how useful the extension would be before commiting to a subscription. I think Subscription Score would benefit from using a free trial or a feature-based (freemium) pricing model.
  • One of the emails I received had a grade of “E”. I’m not sure how it is elsewhere, but in the States, “E” is omitted from our grading scale so I found it a bit odd.

I felt awkward at the end because I want to support other makers, and it’s difficult giving the feedback that I wouldn’t pay for their product. I know as a maker myself that it’s really hard to receive that kind of feedback because in the early stages, it’s difficult to know whether that person is just not in your target market or whether the product itself is not compelling. Danielle and James: My intention is to be helpful — I hope I didn’t come across too harsh in my breakdown!
