Day 399: accountability
for me, the hardest part about working alone is the lack of accountability
because i have a pretty secure financial base, that means there’s little external pressure to launch browserflow and charge people
so i work on it, not as a business, but as an art project
how beautiful can i make this?
every time i sit down to write code, it’s like applying a few brushstrokes to a massive painting. i can do this for hours, days, weeks, months.
i enjoy the process, and my satisfaction from working on it is mostly intrinsic. it’s just nice to create something that i find great
but obviously, i’d like to make this into a business because that was my intention when i created this journal and set out to do the whole indie maker thing at the start of last year
thankfully i have friends who spit facts and tell me what i need to do (get out there and sell!), but i just like painting in my little corner
raising money, getting a co-founder, having a team — these are all ways to build in accountability so that i make progress towards the business portions of the building process
do i want to paint or do i want to make money?
can i do both? clearly i’ve been really bad at the latter
hm, does it really make sense to work alone?
HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
