Day 382: Dumpling Queen

We broke up.

The feeling was mutual, and we sat and talked about the relationship over dumplings, her favorite.

She asked for personal feedback from our time together. I was surprised; that takes a special kind of maturity you don’t often come across. I mentioned some of the challenges I felt during the relationship. She listened and nodded, never protesting, and even apologized after I shared how things felt from my end. How much smoother could a breakup go?

The relationship was brief, with our first real date being only about a month ago. Despite knowing this wouldn’t work, the sense of loss is surprisingly poignant.

Thanks, P.

Once again, I’m experiencing the challenge of writing in public, especially when it’s about things that involve other people. I ended up writing a whole lot in my private journal, but for Road to Ramen, I made things vague so that I’m not disclosing details that others would feel uncomfortable with me sharing. This goes against the spirit of this journal because I’d like to write here as transparently as possible, in the way that I’d talk to a close friend, but I want to respect people’s privacy as much as possible. I still don’t know what the best solution is here.
