Day 321: landing

I MADE IT

there’s a ton i want to write about but it’s 1am and i want to try to set a decent schedule here (although there’s absolutely no sense of night or day in my room — more on this in a future post) so i’m going to try to go to sleep asap

some thoughts and snippets from my journey from la to vancouver to seoul to taipei:

  • gotta love it when air canada confirms your vegan meal preference when you call in, but you get handed a chicken wrap anyway and told there are no special meals on the flight due to covid

    • another flight attendant was confused when she saw that i didn’t have food and thought i was accidentally skipped. when i explained what happened, she said she was vegetarian and hooked me up with stuff from the back. angels r real
  • these flights have barely any passengers so everyone gets like 6 seats to themselves. it’s pretty great

  • my seoul layover made me excited about perhaps moving to korea after taiwan and getting back to my roots

  • when you arrive in taiwan, there are guys who come up and spray down your bags, your hands, your body, and even the soles of your shoes (!) with alcohol solution. can you imagine that happening in the states? but muh libertiez

  • on the taxi ride to my quarantine hotel, i was shocked to see people hanging out, eating at food stalls, and doing normal stuff, all without masks. guess there’s not much to be afraid of when there hasn’t been a local case in over 200 days

ok good night
