Day 296: Gratitude and Magic

I’ve been focusing on personal challenges a lot these past several days so let’s change things up by practicing gratitude! Always helpful to zoom out and shift perspectives.

Things I’m grateful for:

  • My grandpa, my dad, and my stepmom are alive and in good health

  • Even with some occasional bumps here and there, I have a healthy, loving relationship with each of them

    • When I came home this time around, my grandpa said, “Like I always ask…. Did you make a lot of money???” and it cracked me up that he’s aware that he asks me that EVERY SINGLE TIME I visit
  • Sure, I like to whine about the condition of the house I’m in, but hey, we have a place to live!

  • That I have both the financial and occupational liberty to accompany my parents to Costco in the middle of the day and buy them their groceries and whatever else they’d like

  • That the lady at Costco who asked me if Beyond Meat was any good as I was taking a box went to pick one up to try when I told her they’re great

  • That my parents enjoyed the meal I made for them (or at least pretended to). My stepmom was blown away by how much Beyond Meat can look and taste so much like beef. “It’s better than In-N-Out!”

  • My body is working fine (although my left calf is still sore from me overworking it from running)

  • I get to spend every day working on things I love on my own terms

  • The Taiwan embassy finally got back to me and now I know that my passport didn’t disappear forever

  • Friends!!!!

  • That David and Ranna graciously invited me to Oregon and that I got to spend a bunch of time with them this past month

  • That my meditation training can always be relied upon to provide clarity and serenity in the midst of turbulence

  • Holy crap, I get to be alive and conscious and experience reality

These are certainly crazy times, but really, how magical is it that we get to simply be?
