Day 287: Week 42 Plan

Week 41

Goals

  • Life

    • ❌ Be in bed by 12am at least 3 times

      • Err, once again, this only happened once. But! My average bedtime went from around 3:30am to 1:30am so that’s progress!
      • I said I’d only let myself play Starcraft if I went to bed before 12am the previous night and this become irrelevant because I uninstalled the game and decided to only play during the weekend.
    • ✅ Work out at least 2 times, do yoga at least once

      • I wrecked my calves from running too much in minimalist shoes, but besides that, working out went decently well
    • ✅ Meditate for 20+ minutes at least 3 times

      • 🧘🏽‍♂️
  • Browserflow

    • ❌ Complete shared flow page
    • ❌ Create waitlist page
    • ❌ Create gallery with at least 3 shared flows
    • ❌ Publish and share “Unfollow everything on Facebook” flow

So. I didn’t finish any of the Browserflow tasks that I set out to do.

But I spent 36 hours and 43 minutes on Browserflow this week! Where did all that time go?

I spent it fixing bugs.

I made the mistake of not copying over the list of things to do from the week plan to my TODO list. When I copy it over, I’m reminded of the week’s goals every morning and I have to consciously decide to prioritize something else. When I don’t, I just go with the flow which usually ends up being smaller product features and bug fixes rather than the most important tasks.

I also spent some time building demos like taking screenshots of Patrick Collison’s site and exporting lists from Google Maps. I’m excited to switch my focus over to marketing in the coming weeks because I enjoy seeing problems people have and using Browserflow to come up with a solution, but I can tell it’s going to a looooooong grind of solving a bunch of different use cases and having a few people (if any) take notice each time.

Week 43

This week, I have three onboarding sessions scheduled:

  • My friend thought Browserflow would be a good fit for someone at his company who wanted to do some web scraping, so I’m going to set them up with it. It’ll be the first time onboarding someone who I don’t know personally!
  • A friend from Show & Tell wanted to use Browserflow to create shortcuts for Gmail
  • I told a friend from Austin that I can set him up “as soon as it’s a bit more stable”. That was about four months ago. We spoke on the phone recently and he was still quite interested so I’m going to set him up before I make it paid (he also offered to pay for the beta which was very generous of him)

There are actually quite a few friends who reached out wanting to try Browserflow months ago who got the same response of “hold up, it’s almost ready” before I disappeared into coding hermit mode for several months. I think I’ll reach out to a few of them before I set up the paid beta.

This is also my last week in Oregon before I fly back to my parents’ place on Saturday! I’ll probably write a whole post about that sometime this week.

I’m going to keep the same goals as last week with one change: no need to create the waitlist page just yet. I can continue using the waitlist form that I’ve created and email everyone with information about the paid beta once I set that up. For this week, I’ll just focus on getting the gallery up.

      • Since I can barely manage doing this just once, let’s lower this goal to just two times in a week

    • Meditate for 20+ minutes at least 3 times

  • Browserflow
