Day 238: Week 35 Plan

Week 34

Last week I set two goals:

  • Work out
  • Make Browserflow improvements

I went on a 15 minute run where I learned that cardio does not come for free from strength training. Felt like I was gonna have a heart attack. I didn’t work out though, and I feel like with my current diet (I’m eating whatever my stepmom prepares and it’s basically rice and noodles and veggies — very little protein) and with my lack of exercise, my body will undergo a fun lil transformation. Anyway, I’ll give the first goal a 70% because I went outside and did something with my body.

As for the second goal, I got iframe support working in Browserflow! It was pretty freaking gnarly because I had to create a mechanism for the frames to talk to each other even when they don’t share the same origin, but I got the core functionality working today and it’s * ~ beautiful ~ *. I feel like I put in so much energy for such a minor use case but hopefully someone someday who has a burning need to access some iframe content will be stoked that it works. I really hope someone finds it useful because then what did I spend all that time for?!

Week 35

I’m spending the second half of this week with Shiva and his friends in San Diego, and I’m excited to get some peer pressure so that I don’t stay up until 5am playing Starcraft every night. Desire to avoid embarrassment from being a delinquent is a pretty good motivator.

Goals for this week are to finish up the iframe stuff and then start building the gallery!!! This will be the fun part where I get to showcase different flows that people can use. As a V1, a flow in the gallery should have a description, a button to download the flow, and example output if applicable. My friend David has been building some flows to help him use Roam better so I’ll ask him if he wants to throw some up as well. That makes me think that I should focus on allowing saving flows from the editor to the cloud via Firebase so that people can share links easily and whatnot… hm. Do I go infrastructure first or end product first?

I’ll start with building the gallery using manually added flows because that’ll give me more information on what fields to include for uploading flows.
