Day 216: Tired

I started writing a planned post earlier today, but I got distracted and now it’s 10pm. The cycle continues.

This past month has felt like a slump, and it’s in stark contrast to previous one where I churned out code like a hundred monkeys plugged directly into GPT-3.

When I’m motivated, working alone feels great because I can make quick decisions and develop the product rapidly.

When I’m unmotivated, working alone feels impossible because nothing happens. There’s no one but you to fix the bugs, add the features, write the documentation, market the product, etc.

I think I’m burned out. It feels weird to say that, as if I’m admitting to some shameful weakness, but it makes sense that there will be periods that don’t feel like unicorns and rainbows. I’ve been working on Browserflow without launching for about two and a half months now, and writing more code doesn’t hold the thrill it did several weeks ago. I think I need to majorly shift gears and step away from thinking about programming all day. Or maybe stop working for a while and fully take some time off? I’m not sure if I’ve done that since getting back into coding, which was a little over a year ago now. Hm.

I’m tired.

Hold on, I should take my own advice and answer some questions first:

  1. Am I sleeping enough?

    • Nope, my sleep schedule has been all over the place.
  2. Am I exercising regularly?

    • Kind of. I’ve been exercising but don’t have the stable routine I used to.
  3. Am I eating well?

    • Kind of. I eat healthily and appropriately unless I’m sleep deprived, when my self-control disappears.

Alright, get enough sleep first, then see if I still feel bleh.
