Day 175: Week 26 Plan

Week 25

This past week, I focused on making Browserflow more reliable and made significant progress. There are still quite a few bugs, some major architecture change requirements (I might have to bite the bullet and adopt Redux), and a ton of polishing left to do, but overall, the app feels solid. I’m getting to the stage where if I think of a flow and try to make it, it often just works.

Snippets
  • Done

    • Fix bug where items are processed multiple times in FOR_EACH loop
    • Fix critical bug where form text goes out of sync with storage
    • Build and test example flow: Downloading a list of users I follow on Instagram
    • Build and test example flow: Unfollowing everyone on Instagram
  • Dropped

    • Build and test example flow: Dismissing YouTube’s “are you there” prompt

      • YouTube seems to require that the current page be focused in order to properly dismiss the presence check. Browserflow currently doesn’t have a way to switch back to your active tab automatically after switching to the YouTube tab, so this is not quite complete.

Week 26

I think it’s finally time.

I’m going to start onboarding people very slowly because I’m still making breaking changes on a daily basis, but Browserflow feels stable and useful enough to start getting some external feedback. This week, I’m going to submit Browserflow for approval and then send it to three of my friends who have been asking to try it.

Hm, my wrist hurts when I type. I hope I’m not freaking getting carpal tunnel from sitting at my computer and coding all day…

Snippets

    • Redesign storage system to improve performance
    • Use Redux to improve performance
    • Submit Browserflow for approval in the Chrome Web Store
    • Onboard three friends to Browserflow
