Week 19

Intention Community

I (finally!) set up the Intention community, which 59 people have joined so far. Since I have a tendency to not check Slack (or other messaging platforms) for long periods of time, I need to set up a schedule of some sort so that I don’t just ghost everyone who asks questions. Still not sure whether using a real-time communication platform is going to end up biting me in the butt by setting up unrealistic expectations — we’ll see!

I found out that Intention was mentioned in a Wall Street Journal article! 🥳

This wasn’t due to any outreach on my part; an Intention user told me about it.

There wasn’t a meaningful uptick in traffic which isn’t surprising given that it’s at the bottom of an article with many recommendations. The link also points directly to the Chrome Web Store instead of getintention.com (and it can’t be changed now — I asked) so there won’t be any SEO benefit.

Even though both those things are kind of a bummer, this was still very cool to see!

Week 20 Plan

Focus Area

For this upcoming week, I’m going to pause all feature work and fix a lot of the existing bugs in Intention. I discovered an alternative to the way that I currently inject Intention into sites that will fix a frequently reported issue of Intention not working on certain sites (e.g. feedly.com) due to the site erasing Intention’s DOM changes. It’s going to require rewriting a pretty massive chunk of code, but I’m excited to finally fix this issue.
