Day 109: Intention Feature Requests
(Started this yesterday, finished it today.)
After launching Intention on Hacker News two days ago, I received a ton of feature requests from the thread, from emails, and from the Send Feedback form inside Intention’s settings.
Today’s post is going to be dedicated to simply listing them all:
- Add option to save current page for later
- Show how many times the unlock period was extended
- Blur the background behind the lock
- Make it harder to unlock (e.g. require PIN to unlock, randomly rearrange unlock buttons, require solving math problem)
- Count time spent on links from distracting sites (2)
- Add focus mode
- Syncing between devices
- Automatically add a list of news sites (e.g. cnn.com)
- Add ability to import/export data
- Allow using site productively without counting towards timer
- Add time delay so pages load more slowly when they open
- Block only the homepage of a website
- Add dark mode
- Add ability to set multiple schedules
- Add option to disable all requests to Google (e.g. fetching favicons)
- Display number of times Intention successfully intervened
- Add more granular scheduling (e.g. whitelist lunch hour)
- Add option to watch a single video
- Add cooldown after unlocking multiple times
- Keep interface size constant even when page is zoomed in
- Show distracting sites in “extension shortcut screen”
- Show time spent in extension icon popup
- Use 24h format in schedule
- Add ability to mark all sites as distracting and create a whitelist
- Auto-suggest new limits based on usage
- Allow creating groups of sites, each with their own limit
- Ability to set the time when the day rolls over
- Remove permissions when a domain is removed from distracting sites list
- Show how much time (by %) was spent productively
- Limit by number of YouTube videos watched instead of time spent
Some other requests that aren’t feature-related:
- Make Intention for mobile
- Make Intention for other apps (e.g. Steam)
- Make Intention open source
- Add hooks to make a REST API call on certain actions
- Make an Android launcher
Man. And this doesn’t even include any of the bug reports!
