Day 757: lil thoughts
- haven’t been feeling a lot of motivation to take my time journaling. feels like i’m putting in the minimal effort to just get something out and not break the streak. i’m okay with this since everything happens in phases/cycles and i imagine motivation will return
- i take care not to drop my devices (friends sometimes think i’m crazy for using an iphone without a case) so i opted not to get applecare for my macbook pro. well of course my laptop stand tipped over while i was in another room and my macbook fell off of my standing desk and crashed to the floor. there’s a dent on top and it looks like the hinge is messed up. took it to the apple store and they told me it’d cost $730 to fix it because it requires replacing the whole freaking screen. the person helping me was nice and said that she could try sending it in under warranty (which would be free) but that the technicians might disagree and say that it’s accidental damage which would mean having to pay the repair fee. at that point, i might just ask them to send it back without fixing it because the macbook still works fine. note to self: next time, don’t be a cheapo and pay the $300 to insure your $4500 machine.
- i’m back on my old macbook after sending in the new one and need to catch up my dev setup so i can test the changes i had been making to browserflow recently
- i’ve been eating more and my energy levels are WAY up. didn’t realize just how fatigue i had been from restricting my calories. i feel like my recovery is going well so i’m going to go back to a calorie deficit. except this time, instead of trying to just cut food, i’m going to eat more but also introduce low-intensity cardio. that means going on more walks (watching starcraft while on a treadmill was pretty fun although i got a fat blister probably from overdoing it)
- (this is going to be TMI but hey this is my personal journal so whatever) noticed that my sex drive has been almost nonexistent these days. the last time this happened was when i spent the year in intensive meditation retreats. almost certainly due to the cutting / calorie restriction this time. to be honest, i don’t really mind, and it’s a good thing i’m not dating right now because that was an issue in my relationship when my libido disappeared during the meditation year
- one of my favorite things to make is this super creamy protein shake that feels a lot like ice cream. it’s basically the highlight of my culinary day. today i came across a recipe for making it into much more of an ice cream texture (mine is basically a super thick smoothie) by adding xanthan gum. since i use my blender every day and i want to increase the volume of the protein ice cream i make, decided to upgrade from my nutribullet. ended up buying a vitamix. it’s refurbished rather than new, but that’s still $290 spent on a freaking blender. frugal side of me is in disbelief but it’s almost all but dead at this point which is kind of concerning
