Day 584: transition

so it’s been clear to me for a while now that i’ve run out of creative juice when it comes to writing here. if you look at the posts at the beginning of road to ramen, they’re long with significant effort put in towards making it of note

these days, i just vomit whatever’s on my mind for the last several minutes of the day before i go to sleep. there’s no preparation and effort put into these posts

in a way, that’s fine: the point was to journal and share, whatever that form took

but i also have more substantial posts that i’ve been wanting to write but never got around to actually doing

i think these daily bits, where i go through the motions of writing but don’t put much energy behind, are making it harder for me to pursue those longer pieces

it’s like i’ve eaten way too many cookies throughout the day so now i have no space for the main course. i use up whatever creative writing energy i got on these stream of consciousness bits and never muster enough up to overcome the hurdle of a bigger thing

sooooooooo

since i won’t be writing here for two weeks during my retreat that starts on friday, i think that’s a good time to make a transition

who knows what i’ll be thinking when i return from the retreat, but my plan is to start writing once a week rather than every day and spend more time on the posts

(unlike normal R2R posts where i put zero pressure on myself to produce anything of quality since the focus is just on journaling, reducing the frequency will introduce some of that pressure back, for better or worse. it’s possible that i’m like “nah this ain’t for me” and come back to the daily brain dumps but who knows)

i’ll do one more post before disappearing on friday, but this might be the end of daily road to ramen posts :’)

ok i will save the feels for tomorrow
