Day 505: The Anatomy of a Full Day
Enjoyed today very much. Didn’t do any work, but I had a blast with with T, Tiffany, and Marco.
What the day looked like:
-
Woke up
-
Yoga
- First time in forever. I am a brick now.
-
Meditation
- First time doing a longer sit in a quite a while. So nice to simply be.
-
Swimming
- I miss going to the pool in Taiwan
-
Said hi to Alice, who’s in Taiwan, who was planning her Adobe live session with Tiffany, who’s also an illustrator
- The world is so small!!!
-
Onboarded John to Browserflow
- After I gave him a demo of what Browserflow can do, he told me about how he was hoping Browserflow could help him see information for each company in LinkedIn Sales Navigator without having to click through a bunch of screens. Browserflow isn’t really built for that, and I don’t think I’ll get into augmenting websites locally in addition to automation because that’s basically a different extension entirely.
-
Ran some errands for Ben
- Ben and Mai are in Japan now, but Ben needed help returning a package and restarting an Ethereum mining rig at his house. Was super happy to be able to help him out because he’s so incredibly generous with me.
-
Waffles with Tiffany
- Talked about life and relationships and the waffle was bomb
-
Passed out
- I had too much food for lunch and passed out in a heavy food coma. This was my least favorite part of the day because I was hoping to get some work done, but alas.
-
Worked out with T and Marco
- I felt ridiculously tired waking up for my nap and didn’t want to work out at all but the power of making a prior commitment to a group won over. I’m glad it did.
-
Brainstormed with T, Tiffany, and Marco about T’s business
- T is an OnlyFans creator, and we talked about some of the parts that feels tedious or difficult. Realized that Browserflow can actually help her streamline her workflows a ton (e.g. posting to different subreddits, posting updates on OnlyFans) so going to work with her tomorrow and automating some of those flows. We then all had a super long conversation about the different business use cases that Browserflow can solve and the ethics around growth hacking (e.g. how liking a bunch of Instagram posts automatically in order to get followers feels dishonest). Loved getting ideas from other people and also hearing how other people saw these things (e.g. someone made the argument that “growth hacking” can be reframed as helping undiscovered creators make a living by helping them gain exposure, and while I think that’s valid, it still has the ick factor due to the automatic likes, comments, and follows being a dishonest interaction because you’re making the recipient think that you care about their stuff when you actually don’t).
-
Cooked dinner with everyone
- I was super full from the fat protein shake I made after the workout so I had some stir-fried broccoli and cauliflower. It was disappointing.
-
Dance party
- I don’t know how this happened but we had a spontaneous dance party where Marco taught us some moves and then we ended up coming up with a little choreographed routine together. I am not a good dancer, but I love dancing and this was super fun.
-
Splits stretch
- We’ve been doing this 8 minutes splits stretch routine from YouTube, and T suggested that we do it after our dance party. One of the reasons why I love living in community is because if you have people around you who have similar interests (in this case, getting more flexible), it’s much easier to work on them together rather than mustering up the discipline to do it when you don’t feel like it.
-
Just chatting
- We went around sharing a “rose, bud, thorn” (something good, something starting, and something challenging) from our day/lives and that turned into a deep conversation about life for things like the people/works that have been the most influential in our lives. I love that with this group, we can have silly dance parties and also great conversations.
Coding and building a business is fun but people, relationships, friends — that’s where it’s at.
