Day 388: oh the places you'll maybe go
got my blood work done here (seems pretty useful to check for major deficiencies, especially if you’re vegetarian/vegan) and my doctor (super cool guy; after discussing my blood test results, we spent an hour talking about life which has never happened before in a doctor’s appointment) asked me what i plan to do in six months when the pandemic settles down
i told him i don’t even know what i’ll be doing a month from now
my current options for march:
-
continue living in taiwan
i like the routine that i’d set up here of working out / swimming in the morning and then going to a co-working space to work. i’m also in talks with a friend i made here about perhaps working together on browserflow / working together in general. if we decide to partner up, it’d make sense to be co-located. if i decided to stay here longer, i’d probably take learning chinese more seriously so i’m not always staring back blankly as people go on 5-minute monologues explaining something on the menu before i hit them with a “wat”
-
get a quarantine house with friends in the states
shiva and i have talked about living together for a while now, and being on lockdown offers a unique time to hang and work and work out and pack on muscle (him) and lose fat (me) and be hooligans. i’m currently looking at places for the san diego crew to live together for 6-8 weeks, which would be a ton of fun. even though i’m enjoying my time in taiwan, i feel compelled to get browserflow out there because i spent way too much time on this baby not to release it into the world. i feel like i haven’t yet earned the right to relax and be social here — and if i’m going to be working a bunch, why not do it surrounded by friends who are excited to do it together?
-
go to korea
this one’s pretty random and not at all likely but kate sent me this video which is cute and beautiful and god damn he sings so well and it made me want to go to the motherland and learn korean. i wish i felt as strongly about learning chinese as i do about learning korean
of the three, i think returning to the states to live and work with friends is the most likely, but things are changing so much all the time that i have no idea what my situation will look like in a week
