Day 234: Gamer

I’m about 10 years late, but my sister and I recently started playing Starcraft 2, and I’ve gotten completely sucked in.

The last time this happened was with Go, where stayed up until ungodly hours trying to decide where to place my next stone.

With Starcraft, there are a thousand stones to play at the same time, and studying the game is quite intellectually stimulating. The complexity of the gameplay makes it feel way more fun to play and watch compared to other games like League of Legends.

Whenever people asked me if I play games, I’d tell them that I stay away because I know that I’d get completely hooked if I did. Well, I’m hooked, which doesn’t bode well for Browserflow progress or my well-being. My overall attitude toward games still holds: It’s not time that I consider well spent.

There is some redemptive value to the time spent playing with my sister because it’s a fun activity we can enjoy together, but I also feel like I’ve ruined her life as well by asking her if she’d like to play with me. Whenever I lose focus on working on Browserflow (which has been happening quite a lot recently because I’m trying to support iframes and discovering that it’s quite complex), I open Starcraft, and more often than not, I see that my sister is also playing.

What have I done?
