Day 210: Week 31 Plan

Week 30

Summary of this past week: LOW ENERGY

I had a hard time focusing on work, felt little motivation to exercise and felt drained when I did, played League of Legends with my housemates (deleted my account this morning because it’s a waste of life), and spent a lot of time lying face down in my bed.

It’s hard to identify the cause(s) behind this, as there’s been quite a few changes recently:

  • Started sharing a room with one of my housemates and my sleep is slightly more disrupted, but not by that much
  • Started intermittent fasting and limiting my eating between 12pm and 8pm
  • Stopped eating sweets
  • My work on Browserflow is transitioning from core product work (exciting!) to onboarding/marketing (not as exciting!)

I’m trying to accept this as it is, but it certainly is less fun than brimming with energy and motivation.

I planned to make several demos showcasing Browserflow this week, and I barely made one (and it wasn’t one of the ones I intended):

But hey, I was able to do something so that’s nice.

Snippets
  • Done (Unplanned)

    • Create a Browserflow demo of scraping Instagram images
  • Carryover

    • Create a demo of using Browserflow to unfollow everyone on Twitter and add them to a private list
  • Dropped

    • Create a demo of using Browserflow to automatically dismiss the “Are you there?” prompt when listening to music on YouTube

      • Reason for dropping: This makes for a poor demo because of the unpredictability of waiting for the prompt to appear

Week 31

Looking back at the recent weekly reviews/planning posts, it’s clear that I’m not actually planning much. I’ve been setting a small goal or two and then barely getting them done.

This is reflective of my difficulty in taking a high-level view and deciding what to prioritize.

I can keep on focusing on the product (there’s a massive backlog of features and improvements I’d like to make, and I’m sure there always will be), but I also know that I’ve reached a point where Browserflow is stable and useful enough where it makes more sense to focus on marketing and getting people to use it.

Alright, I guess I need to think about the road to launching Browserflow. This will require me to figure out what my long-term plans for it as well as how I’d like to monetize it. Charging for the products I make and creating the infrastructure for doing it (account management, etc.) is an area that I’ve consistently avoided, but hopefully this time, I can muster up enough motivation to do it for Browserflow and then carry that over to Intention.

My focus for this week will be to (1) come up with a plan for launching Browserflow (I don’t expect to launch anytime soon, but it’ll be good to spend time thinking about how I want to do it) and (2) continue building demos to both market Browserflow and discover bugs / needed features.
