Day 207: Zing
11 hour coding day.
Haven’t had one of these in a while.
3:30am.
Body tired and mind numb.
Feeling hungry and I recall the amazing Zing bars that were delivered this week.
They’re basically candy bars but also have 9g of protein so you don’t feel as bad. Best of all, they’re vegan.
I shared one with Suz and Stedman on the day we moved into this house in Santa Cruz and she liked it so much that she ordered a few boxes and now there are so many to enjoy.
The gift of karma.
But wait.
I made a commitment to (1) no longer eat sweets and (2) fast between 8pm and 12pm.
If I ate a bar now, I’d break both of those rules.
Dilemma.
Emerson: “A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds, adored by little statesmen and philosophers and divines.”
Is this a foolish consistency?, my stomach wonders.
It’s obviously a wise one, you brute, my mind responds.
Funny how powerful the desire to stay consistent can be.
Probably also helps that I shared it in my journal, thus making it a public.
If I broke it, I’d feel a need to share my gluttonous failure in the journal for the sake of transparency.
That doesn’t sound fun.
To bed I go.
Sleep well, Zing bars.
