Day 182: Week 27 Plan

Week 26

Last week, I set the goal of getting a build of Browserflow available so I can onboard some friends.

So yeah… about that…

I’ve basically turned a fairly major refactor (decoupling flows from their running state) into a super mega refactor (replacing my entire storage and state management with Redux) and in terms of product, I’m pretty much spinning my wheels.

It’s like I had trained my Pokemon all this time to finally face the Elite Four, but just before facing them, I discovered that I can go catch Mew and I’ve gone on a massive side quest.

I feel pretty fine about this — it’s been a while since I’ve picked up a new skill / framework, and I see this as an investment in my maker toolkit that will hopefully pay dividends for everything I work on.

I was telling my friend today that for the past several days, Road to Ramen has become a web development technical blog with me writing so much about my engineering decisions. For the non-technical readers, sorry for the snorefest!

Snippets

    • Use Redux to improve performance
    • Onboard three friends to Browserflow

Week 27

I’ve been sleeping a lot better and am slowly getting back into having a normal exercise routine after writing my post about working too hard.

My focus for this week is to finish the migration to Redux and submit the extension to the Chrome Web Store. The migration is pretty involved, but this should be a reasonable workload that lets me take it a bit easier this week.

Snippets
  • Browserflow

    • Migrate state management entirely to Redux
    • Submit Browserflow for approval in the Chrome Web Store
